How can I get my purchased dvd's onto my pc?

I put two of my movies in my pc n somehow got them copied to my desktop. Now I cant remember how I done it. I know I didnt use any kind of software and I recall thinking geez that was simple. I still have those 2 movies on my notebook but like stated earlier I cant remember how I done it.
